Russian Euro Star Next To Be Signed At Arsenal?

Russian Euro Star Next To Be Signed At Arsenal?
Russian playmaker Alan Dzagoev has been watched by Arsenal at the ongoing Euro 2012, where he has been putting in splendid performances for his side Russia.

Dzagoev has been amongst the top players in the ongoing European championships, scoring 3 goals in 2 games which almost put Russia through to the quarter finals before they were harshly eliminated after their 1-0 loss to Greece.

He will be out of contract with his current club CSKA Moscow at the end of the calendar year, but is said to be content at Moscow. They value Dzagoev at £13 million but could be forced to accept a lower offer, given the fact that he could leave the club for free during the coming winter.

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his attacking options, with German forward Lukas Podolski already purchased. He is also in the running to sign Montpellier’s Ligue 1 winning striker, Frenchman Olivier Giroud.

Meanwhile, Dzagoev’s Russian teammate Andrei Arshavin may be on the way out of Emirates, after falling behind in the pecking order. He was loaned out last season to his former club Zenit and it is reported that he may be permanently out of London this summer. If that is the case, Dzagoev can act as a direct replacement for his countryman. Even in the national setup, he is said to be Arshavin’s long term replacement.

Dzagoev’s best position is just behind the striker, a position which has been mostly unfilled at Arsenal since Nasri left.
